Soaking up the sun...

Bon giorno from the hill country in Italy.

We finally arrived in Orvieto, a place that you see in movies. This countryside is beautiful...rollling hills filled with sunflowers for miles and miles. Vineyards lined the hills as we traveled up the funicular (our second of the trip...1st in the salt mines) to this small Italian town. Unfortunately, our Rick Steves' map proved to be a little off, so we again were wheeling our luggage over old cobblestone streets. ...all along, local Italians were looking at us strangely...surely those Americans can find their way around our little town.

Finally, we arrived at our hotel for the night, actually, it is a bed and breakfast run by Valentina. She is a charming woman who has beautiful antiques all throughout her house. The off-white and khaki linens would be something you might find in Southern Living magazine with a Tuscan flair. Of course, our next visit will be to get something to eat. Then we will be off to bed!

Just when we thought there wouldn't be an internet cafe, our eyes spotted one "in the window" of a local bar-restaurant. We couldn't let you down...you our readers whom we have come to know better and love.

Before we arrived here, we had a delightful day in Florence. We purchased some goodies for ourselves and others including art, leather, ceramics, and more. Also, Director Jennifer took us to the Duomo and the San Croce church. Both were beautiful and amazing to see. We also saw some more of our nun friends in the churches as well as the train station.

That about wraps up our day in Florence and Orvieto.

Until tomorrow....

Ciao...
Sissi and Carolina

(Carolyn, this blog is really dedicated to you. If you had not suggested this town, we would not have been here. Thanks, friend!)
